His defense attorney confirms that he was released last night, as there was no reason for keeping him any longer.

Last Monday the man was sentenced to custody until Friday, and was therefore released 48 hours sooner than expected.

According to Hallgrímsson’s attorney, Sveinn Andri Sveinsson, his client categorically denies the allegations, claiming that he was simply mediating and not threatening the father and son.

According to Sveinsson, his client is very upset by the media coverage regarding the case, and wishes to make it clear that he is not a racist.

The police are still investigating the case. Last weekend the father and son fled the country after the alleged trespassing into their home in Reykjavík. They are expected to return before the weekend.
