By Iceland Review

Ívar Anton Jónsson, who is 22, was sentenced to five years in prison in Reykjavík District Court on Wednesday for sexual offenses against four minor girls, for being in possession of child pornography and for a number of cases of embezzlement.

Reykjavík District Court.

Jónsson was convicted for rape and confinement of the four girls, who were 13 to 16 at the time. He is to pay each of his victims ISK 600,000 to 1.5 million (USD 5,000 to 12,000, EUR 4,000 to 9,000) in compensation, Morgunbladid reports.

Jónsson maintained his innocence in regard to the sexual offense and child pornography charges. He claimed that the pornographic material that was found on his computer during house search had been downloaded automatically.

A specialist who was called in as a witness said that the files couldn’t have been located where they were without having been moved.

However, Jónsson confessed to ten cases of embezzlement, two drug violations and to having driven in an intoxicated condition.
