The man has yet to be served with a subpoena and the case has yet to be filed, Sigríður told ruv.is.

The girl is said to have agreed to meet the man in October last year after having contacted him on dating website einkamal.is, offering him sexual services in exchange for money.

The man handed the girl ISK 20,000 (USD 165, EUR 121) through a car window, which she accepted and then ran away.

The State Prosecutor originally charged the girl for fraud but the case was dismissed by the Supreme Court of Iceland.
