1,950 ml (65.93 US fl. oz.) of a liquid cocaine solution has been found in luggage at Keflavík International Airport.
The owner, a man around the age of 30, arrived in Iceland from Amsterdam, RÚV reported.
When customs officers searched his bags, they found the liquid contained in four bottles, marked as mouthwash, soap and shampoo.
According to a statement from the Icelandic Directorate of Customs, this is the first time liquid cocaine solution has been seized in Iceland.
It is apparently very difficult to accurately identify the liquid just by shining a light through it or X-raying it.
A police investigation into the case is already in its finishing stages.
Kári Gunnlaugsson, head customs officer, told reporters that the liquid found is a very strong form of cocaine—but added that it is not yet known precisely how strong it is, or how much dry cocaine powder it would be possible to make from it.
