A man in his 20s suspected of having raped a young woman in the early hours of 22 October has been arrested and remanded in custody. The woman accepted a ride with a man who drove her to the outskirts of the city and raped her. This was reported in all the main media.
Earlier that same evening, the man had also offered another woman a ride home. She declined, but suspected foul play and jotted down the vehicle’s license plate number. On hearing the news broadcast and description of the man’s vehicle, the woman contacted police with the license number. This led to the man’s arrest.
