Majority Satisfied with Smoking Ban in Iceland

Almost 82 percent of participants in a new opinion poll by Fréttabladid newspaper said they were satisfied with the smoking ban in restaurants and night clubs, which took effect on June 1. Little over 18 percent said they were dissatisfied.

The difference between men and women was insignificant, but more people who live in the countryside, 86.3 percent, expressed their satisfaction with the smoking ban, while 78.3 percent of capital region residents said they were satisfied, Fréttabladid reports.

Fréttabladid contacted 800 people over 18 last Saturday, an equal amount of men and women and countryside and city inhabitants. More than 90 percent participated in the poll.
