Love and Destiny at National Museum on Culture Night

Love will be in the air at the National Museum of Iceland on Reykjavík Culture Night tonight. Various objects and artworks related to romance, love and destiny will be on display at the museum on the occasion.

Visitors to the museum can also listen to sweet love songs and poetry readings, read ancient love letters and unconventional love confessions, as described in a press release.

Items for love sorcery and other love-related items will be for sale in the museum’s store and visitors to the museum’s café will be offered a taste of love-inspired drinks.

The formal Culture Night Program at the National Museum takes place between 7 pm and 11 pm, during which admission is free. The museum opens at 10 am.

Admission will also be free at the Reykjavík Art Museum – Ásmundarsafn, which will be open from 10 am to 6 pm. Artists participating in the museum’s most recent exhibition “Water Carrier” will greet visitors.

At the Reykjavík Museum of Photography, visitors can dress up in old-fashioned clothing and have their picture taken.

The museum is also offering a free walk around central Reykjavík, entitled “From the Countryside to the City” guided by art historian Sigurlaug Th. Ragnarsdóttir, which begins at 2 pm on the corner of Einholt and Háteigsvegur.
