The award came with a prize of USD 10,000 (ISK 1.2 million, EUR 7,000), visir.is reports.

The performance act, a 12-hour live loop of the final aria of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, garnered considerable attention. Among participating singers was Icelandic tenor Kristján Jóhannsson.

McLaren, who passed away last year, was the agent of British punk band Sex Pistols and is considered to have been among those marking the beginning of the punk genre.
