Loss for Iceland at U-21 European Football Cup

The Icelandic national team in men’s U-21 football has suffered two losses at the European Championship in Aalborg, Denmark, so far, 2-0 in the opening game against Belarus and 2-0 against Switzerland yesterday.

“The team looked terrible during most of the game and was absolutely unrecognizable from when it beat Germany with brilliance and the games against Scotland in the preliminary round,” commented Morgunbladid sports journalist Gudmundur Hilmarsson.

Iceland’s next game will be against Denmark and if Iceland intends to move on to the next level of the competition, they must win that game by several goals. Denmark beat Belarus 2-1 yesterday and Switzerland tops the qualifying group.
