faust-operaIcelandic entertainment company Sena will offer live broadcast from operas and ballets in cooperation with the Royal Opera House in London this winter.

The first show will be the opera Faust by Charles Gounod, starring Angela Gheorghia and Dmitri Hvorotovsky, which will be broadcast on September 28 in the cinema Háskólabíó in Reykjavík, Morgunbladid reports.

Gounod’s Faust, which is loosely based on Goethe’s literary masterpiece, is one of the most successful operas of its time. It premiered in Paris in 1859 and has been staged by the Royal Opera House since 2004.
