Lively Atmosphere at Downtown Reykjavík Square

Business operators around Ingólfstorg square in Reykjavík city center and Miðborgin okkar, a collaboration platform for parties of interest in the capital, will organize various events at the square this summer, alongside the project Ylströnd Ingólfs (“Ingólfur’s Thermal Beach”).

The goal is to make the square more attractive to passersby with a lively atmosphere and better facilities for recreation, Morgunblaðið reports.

On Thursday, the concrete square was covered with turf, on top of which tables and chairs were placed and a giant screen was put up on the façade of Center Hotel Plaza where football matches in the ongoing European Championship will be screened.

The first game was screened there on Thursday, Portugal vs. the Czech Republic, which Portugal ended up winning by one goal and thus qualifying for the semifinals.
