Live Streaming of West Fjords Music Festival

By Iceland Review

The free music festival Aldrei fór ég sudur (I Never Went South), held in Ísafjördur in the West Fjords at Easter, starting today, invites the world to observe and enjoy the music by watching a live stream from the festival on

A press release describes the festival as “unlike any other: located practically at the end of the world, in a town nestled among precipitous mountain slopes, the festival brings together local bands with the biggest names on the Icelandic music scene.”

Lonely Planet named Aldrei fór ég sudur as one of the three most interesting happenings around the world in April in its “Best of Travel 2011” round-up.

Since it was first held in 2004, the festival has been organized and run annually by volunteers from Ísafjördur and admission has always been free. This is the first time the festival has been streamed live as well.
