Live Advent Calendar at the Nordic House

For the third year in a row, the Nordic House in Reykjavík will host a live Advent Calendar, a series of surprise cultural events from December 1 to 24. Every day at 12:34, a new event will be announced.

The purpose of the Advent calendar is to offer relief from the Christmas stress and give people a chance to enjoy a varied cultural program during their lunch breaks. Mulled wine and gingerbread cookies will be available at the entrance of the Nordic House.

Secrecy surrounds the program and visitors won’t know what they will be experiencing until the event begins. Last year singer-songwriter Björk, comedian Jón Gnarr and Bishop Karl Sigurbjörnsson were among performers.

Every year an artist is asked to design the calendar itself and this year’s calendar was made by Sigga Björg Sigurdardóttir.
