Iceland State Radio, RÚV, reports that Norwegian actress Liv Ullmann is on her way to Iceland to make a movie based on Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson´s novel, A Journey Home (Slóð Fiðrildanna). Ullman has already written the screenplay and will direct the movie. According to Ólafsson, the film is financed and contracts are signed, a location in Iceland is currently being scouted. Filming will start next summer. A Journey Home is about an Icelandic woman in England who returns home – “a place that reflects the past back to her: a mother who abandoned her, a fiancé eventually killed by the Nazis.”
Ullmann will arrive in Iceland next week and Ólafsson arrived yesterday.
