The store Liberty in London has made a contract with the Icelandic fashion label KALDA on the sale of its latest collection. The label is owned by sisters Rebekka and Katrín Alda Rafnsdóttir, who also run the store Einvera on Laugavegur in Reykjavík.

Rebekka Rafnsdóttir said they are honored that Liberty will carry their design. “It is very unusual for the store to take in young and unknown designers,” she told Fréttabladid. Among labels available in the store are Eto, Sonia Rykiel and Vivienne Westwood.
Liberty’s scouts noticed KALDA’s design at the fair CPH Vision held in conjunction with the Copenhagen Fashion Week in early February.
Rafnsdóttir said the contract changes everything for the label. “It will make us more visible and strengthen us as a fashion label in every way.”
KALDA’s new collection is called Rjúfland and the sisters say it is characterized by versatility and quality. They have their mind set on further success; Katrín Alda Rafnsdóttir is currently in New York at the Rendez Vous fair.
Liberty was founded in 1875 and was named the best store in London in 2010 by Time Out Magazine.
