Liberal Party to split?

Former manager of the Iceland’s Liberal Party, Margrét Sverrisdóttir, is considering leaving the party after losing the elections for vice-chairman yesterday.

Sverrisdóttir, who received about 40 percent of the votes, said the elections at the Liberal Party’s annual general meeting yesterday had not been professionally organized. RÚV reports.

The party’s chairman Gudjón Arnar Kristjánsson said he does not know whether Sverrisdóttir’s reaction will cause a split in the party, but said she would disappoint her supporters if she decides to leave.
