This fall Reykjavík City Theater, Borgarleikhúsið, will stage a production of “Salka Valka”, a play based on one of the late author Halldór Laxness’s best known novels.
Originally published in the great depression of the early 1930’s, Salka Valka tells the tale of a young woman in a small fishing community where the labor movement takes on local fishing interests.
Edda Heiðrún Bachman will direct the play, and Ilmur Kristjánsdóttir will take on the lead role of Salka Valka.
