Last month Haarde harshly criticized the work methods of the High Court in a letter to its president, Ingibjörg Benediktsdóttir, for, among other items, the delay in appointing a lawyer to present his case, Morgunbladid reports.

The explanation for the delay was that it was a matter of opinion whether charges were filed against Haarde when the parliamentary resolution on the issue was approved or when the prosecutor filed charges.
