Lava Flows over F910

By Iceland Review

The new lava at the Holuhraun eruption site has in several places crawled over the only road to the site, road F910, reports.

F910 is the road connecting Askja, where the scientists have their base, to Sprengisandur road F26, connecting South and North Iceland over the highlands.

The section of F26 from Askja to Sprengisandur has been closed since the eruption started because that stretch of the road goes too close to Bárðarbunga volcano.

The only access, for journalist, photographers and scientists, has been via F910 northbound to Möðrudalur farm from Askja and from there towards Ring Road One.
