Visual artist Silvia Björg is currently exhibiting her paintings at Hótel Keilir in Keflavík, southwest Iceland, which were inspired by lava and moss. The exhibition opened as part of the festival Night of Lights but has now been extended to September 30.
“In my art natural materials are important components. To me, the moss symbolises the fragility in opposition and contrast to the hardness of the lava,” the artist explains.
“In my artwork wild nature is in continuous change, there is a creation-destruction of materials and the fragility of primitive vegetation is in symbiosis with the roughness of the solidified incandescent minerals that are born at the core of the Earth,” she adds.
