Latest Weird Girls Project Released

Concept artist Kitty Von-Sometime last week released the latest episode of The Weird Girls Project, with music by Brooklyn-based CREEP, featuring Sia.

Like many of The Weird Girls Project episodes, “#EmbraceYourself”, is in music video format. The piece features women encrusted in thickly layered gold body glitter dancing in wet volcanic sand, with a backdrop of angled mirrors. “The purpose of this piece is to promote a message to women to #EmbraceYourself; women celebrating themselves as themselves and to truly love who they are,” said Kitty. “I chose to coat these women in gold to symbolize their radiance and self worth, letting the mirrors reflect an ability to truly embrace their bodies from every perspective.”

British-born resident of Iceland Kitty collaborated with Brooklyn duo CREEP for this episode, who provided the soundtrack which also features Sia. “This project shows beauty in all forms. It shows strong women of all shapes. It also shows strength individually and in numbers. We were happy to provide a soundtrack for the project,” CREEP commented.

The Weird Girls Project is Kitty’s most successful performance art series to date, with an ever-growing waiting list of participants, a global fan base and critical acclaim from international arts and culture media.

Participants in each episode are kept completely unaware of concept, location or costumes until they arrive on set. Kitty insists they “release themselves to the unknown,” then immerses them in the world she has created for them with the intention of encouraging increased confidence.
