Last Chance to See National Relics Exhibition

The National Museum of Iceland exhibition “Back Home Across the Sea” closes on January 31. The exhibition features Icelandic national relics that are in the ownership of the Nordiska museet in Sweden, but have now been returned.

According to an agreement between the National Museum of Iceland and Nordiska museet, the latter will remain in ownership of the objects, as they have been since the 19th century, but as of last summer, they will be preserved in Iceland—their country of origin.

The objects have been on display in the National Museum in Reykjavík since June last year. After the “Back Home Across the Sea” exhibition closes at the end of this month, visitors will still learn about the national relics collection at the museum.
