Last Chance to Hike in Hornstrandir Nature Reserve

Vesturferdir’s regular crossings to Hornstrandir Nature Reserve from Ísafjördur will finish for the season on Monday, August 15. Hornstrandir Nature Reserve was established in 1975 and its boundaries are in the Skorarheidi moor between the fjords of Hrafnsfjördur and Furufjördur. The area has been mostly deserted since World War II and offers a spectacular landscape.

Foreign visitors have frequently visited the area throughout the summer and local rangers have resided in the area for the duration of the season, as well as in Hestaeyri.

Tours to Hestaeyri in the Hestaeyrarfjördur fjord from Ísafjördur and Bolungarvík will continue until August 21.
