Largest Shipment of Illegal Narcotics to Iceland Intercepted

By Iceland Review

A shipment of illegal drugs discovered on the Norraena Ferry two days ago has proven to be the largest narcotics shipment ever intercepted by the Icelandic Police.

The drugs were found carefully hidden inside a RV. Yesterday the Icelandic police announced that 190 kilograms of hashish, 1.5 kilograms of cannabis and one kilogram of cocaine had been recovered, although the search is not yet completed. 24 Stundir reports.

The owner of the RV, a Dutchman in his seventies was arrested and placed in custody. The police suspects that the Dutchman is not alone and has a partner or partners in Iceland. As she search for his partners is ongoing, the police are not revealing any more information at this point.

The police suspect that the Dutchman has been to Iceland before and also that this was not the first time the Norraena Ferry was used for drug smuggling.
