The lobster was caught in Selvogur nearby. The crustacean’s torso measures 88 mm, 7 mm more than the previous record of 81 mm which was caught ten years ago. The lobster measures about half a meter in length and weighs 490 grams, mbl.is reports.
A staff member of the Marine Research Institute, who checks the unloading of most lobster boats which land in Þorlákshöfn, confirmed the Icelandic record.
