Ladle Licker fights dishwasher

The fourth yule lad, Ladle Licker, came to town last night in search for ladles he could lick. He found one, but ended up losing it to a dishwasher.

Ladle Licker had observed a man placing a ladle covered in sauce into “a weird box” and his mouth watered. But when the yule lad tried to force the box open he was sprayed with water, as reported on júlli.is.

Ladle Licker left the house in question disappointed and hungry, but had made sure to leave a present behind for the children who lived there before the dishwasher episode.

The poor lad has never gotten into trouble like this before. His used to be an expert in hiding in the kitchen – which was not difficult considering that Ladle Licker is ladle-thin – and striking as soon as the cook maid left a ladle unnoticed, as described in poem Jólasveinarnir.

“What do I know about modern technology?” Ladle Licker tells icelandreview.com. He is not the brightest of the 13 yule lads.

“Once, I was tricked into licking a clothes pole and my tongue got stuck to the frosty metal,” Ladle Licker says, and bursts out laughing.

Ladle Licker is always hungry and licks all ladles he discovers, regardless of what they are covered in. Lucky for him, the yule lad’s love for food doesn’t result in him putting on weight.
