Reykjavík club KR became the Icelandic Champion in the Iceland Express premiere league in basketball in Iceland on Tuesday night after a 109-95 victory over Stjarnan from Gardabaer in the teams’ fourth final.
KR ended up winning the duel 3-1 and is currently the country’s best basketball team as KR also won the Iceland Cup earlier this winter, Morgunbladid reports.
This is the 12th time KR has won the Icelandic Championship title; the last time the club boasted the title was in 2009.
Yesterday’s duel was fought on Stjarnan’s home court in Ásgardur in Gardabaer but the arena was also packed with KR fans who cheered their team on and were quick to celebrate once the victory was sealed.
