Charges were filed at Reykjavík District Court yesterday against a man for attempted murder and assault of two employees at the law firm Lagastoð in Reykjavík, whom he attacked with a knife on March 5, inflicting a number of life-threatening stab wounds.

The first of the two victims was stabbed four times; each of the wounds was considered to be life-threatening, Fréttablaðið reports.
He had to be given 50 liters of blood transfusion and one of his kidneys and the gall bladder had to be removed. Other organs are damaged after the attack.
The other victim was stabbed twice in the thigh when he tried to come to his associate’s aid.
The defendant remained silent while the charges over him were read out loud. His attorney requested an extension to take a position on them. The case’s second hearing will be tomorrow.
