Kitty Von-Sometime and Árstíðir to Team up

Icelandic band Árstíðir and visual artist Kitty Von-Sometime have announced that they will team up to produce a collaborative art project.

Árstíðir, which received global attention after a video of the band performing ‘Heyr himna smiður,’ a cappella in a German train station went viral, reaching over 3,300,000 views, recently funded the making of their third studio album through a 30-day Kickstarter campaign.

Kitty is best known for her ongoing visual art series The Weird Girls Project which challenges the concept of body image and pushes women’s self confidence boundaries.

Kitty and the band will shoot the film on Langjökull glacier this month. Kitty describes the film as being an artistic statement on her relationship with living in Iceland. “The fact they were open to the exciting idea of producing more than just a music video but an artistic creation of its own was incredibly appealing to me and suits my work perfectly,” she said in a press release.

The team are looking for ways to produce and transport a large ice sculpture up to the glacier as a key element of the shoot.

Iceland-based Irish fashion designer Fiona Cribben is designing the costume, which uses recycled materials and features a bodice made from hundreds of króna coins.
