Keflavík Airport Gives Employees Gold Medal

Björn Óli Hauksson, CEO of Keflavík International Airport, presented his employees with a trophy, and each staff member was granted a document of recognition and a gold medal as Keflavík was recently named the best airport in Europe by the Airports Council International (ACI).

Hauksson said the achievement lies in listening to customers and meeting their needs. The level of service is a result of a joint initiative by all staff members, who guarantee quick and reliable service, Morgunbladid reports.

Fridthór Eydal, the airport’s information officer, said the achievement is partly due to its small size. “Passengers know how to appreciate the comfort that comes with traveling through Keflavík Airport,” he said.

“Everything takes a shorter time than in larger airports, it is easy and quick to take a connection flight and there is a wide selection of shops and services,” Eydal added.

According to ACI’s poll, Keflavík Airport scored high in regard to the overall satisfaction of passengers, who mentioned sanitation, a cozy atmosphere and quick baggage service.

The airport’s staff was considered polite and helpful and the access to banking services and restaurants was complimented.

“In spite of the economic situation the airport’s operators have tried to maintain quality service while rationalizing,” Eydal said.
