Keflavik Airport to double size of terminal by 2007

According to the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, the Leifur Eiríksson Air Terminal at Keflavík Airport will double in size by the year 2007. The goal of the expansion is to react to the substantial increase of passengers traveling through Leifur Eiríksson Air Terminal.

According to forecasts, in 2015, 3.2 million people will travel through the Leifur Eiríksson Air Terminal. In 2004, 1,443,000 passengers traveled through the terminal.

According to figures from Leifur Eiríksson Air Terminal, the number of passengers to and from Iceland has risen by just under 10% from last year, and the number of transatlantic passengers stopping over in Iceland is up 6%.

Passengers leaving Iceland can expect minor inconveniences from the end of this week to the beginning of next year due to the construction.
