Keflavík Airport Closed at 9.30

Vidar Reynisson at the Icelandic Safety Authority say that the authority has decided to close Keflavík airport because of the eruption in Grímsvötn. This is based on a forecast of ash from the British aviation authority.

Reynisson said that it was likley that Reykjavík airport would be closed later. All planes that were supposed to land in Keflavík have already landed. All Icelandair’s airplanes for Europe were expected to be cleared for takeoff before the field would be closed.

If you have photos or observations about the current eruption, please send them to us at [email protected].
