Tourists in search of the northern lights last night had to call search and rescue to assist them when they got stuck in snow on road 431 near Lake Hafravatn on the outskirts of the capital, visir.is reports.
After their car was freed, they drove back to Reykjavík. It is uncertain whether or not they managed to catch a glimpse of the northern lights.
Search and rescue teams have been busy in recent days. Earlier this week, a man had to be rescued from Snæfellsjökull after becoming scared during a violent storm in the area.
