Kate Winslet Talks Golden Hat Book on Icelandic TV

The Golden Hat Foundation, run by British Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet and Margrét Dagmar Ericsdóttir, mother of Icelandic autistic boy Keli (the star of the documentary A Mother’s Courage: Talking Back to Autism), recently published the book The Golden Hat – Talking Back to Autism.

The book, which was Winslet’s idea, is intended to raise awareness of autism by placing celebrities in the position of autistic individuals in that they can only express themselves in a few words provided they’re wearing a certain hat, ruv.is reports.

A number of world-famous actors, singers and television personalities participated in the project, including Christina Aguilera, Zac Efron, Julianne Moore, Ben Stiller, Michael Caine, Ricky Gervais, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Justin Timberlake, George Clooney, Leonardo diCaprio, Elton John and Oprah Winfrey.

The book is a collection of photographs, self-portraits of the celebrities wearing the hat, and short quotes from each of them—for example, George Clooney wrote: “I’m sorry about Batman and Robin”—and poems by Keli.

All proceeds of the book go to The Golden Hat Foundation.
