Tickets for the popular Icelandic music festival Vor í Vaglaskógi sold out in under 50 minutes today, leaving thousands of hopeful attendees empty-handed.
As reported by RÚV, ticket sales began promptly at noon, but by 12:50, the event was completely sold out—despite many still waiting in the online queue.
The event, set to take place in the scenic forest of Vaglaskógur on 30 July, will feature performances from acclaimed acts including Kaleo, Hjálmar, Júníus Meyvant, and Sigrún Stella.
Unmet demand
According to Hrefna Sif Jónsdóttir, CEO of ticketing platform Tix.is, the queue was opened half an hour early in anticipation of high demand.
“There were many more people in the queue than there were tickets for sale,” she said. “When we know there will be more demand than supply, we have a queue. Our system handles the load well, but we do this for safety reasons.”
The rapid sell-out appears to reflect an increasing thirst for domestic music festivals in Iceland, especially those set in remote natural settings.
