The Icelandic rock band Kaleo recently received a phone call, telling them that Rolling Stones’ singer Mick Jagger and film director Martin Scorsese were interested in using their latest song for their new HBO series, Vinyl, Vísir reports. The song already sounds in a trailer for the series, which premieres mid-February.

“We were very surprised,” comments Jökull Júlíusson, lead singer of Kaleo. “The song wasn’t even finished.”
“We had three days to finish it,” he continues. The phone call came while the band was on tour. “I just had to jump into the nearest recording studio in Pittsburgh and record the song, so unavoidably we had to cancel three concerts, unfortunately, but I hope we can visit those places as soon as possible to make up for it,” he explains. “I don’t like doing things at the last minute, but sure it’s a great opportunity.”
When asked how Mick Jagger could have found an unfinished song from Kaleo, Jökull responds, “Atlantic Records, our record label, clearly must have shown it to them at some meeting.”
Kaleo plans to release a new album early next year. Jökull says the past six months have been spent traveling and the band has appeared in over forty US states. Most of the band members plan to spend Christmas in Mosfellssveit, where they grew up, east of Reykjavík.
