Kabbalah Center to Open in Reykjavík

Kabbalah, a religious discipline concerned with the mystical aspect of Rabbinic Judaism, seems to be spreading to Iceland. Hermann Ingi Hermannsson, the founder of the Icelandic Kabbalah movement, is planning to open a center in Reykjavík this summer.

“I have studied it since 2007 and attended courses abroad, including a large convention in Miami,” Hermannsson told Fréttabladid, adding that a number of Icelanders are interested in the religious movement.

He explained that Kabbalah is not strictly a religion but rather, “philosophical science and technology of the soul. Kabbalah emphasizes a deeper understanding of the spiritual world, what principles apply to the environment around us and how we can avoid them.”

American singer-songwriter Madonna is probably the most famous Kabbalah practitioner. The controversial religious movement has become quite popular in Hollywood.
