Former mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr has been appointed Head of Domestic Content at 365 Media.
Jón Gnarr is one of Iceland’s best-known television personalities and scriptwriters. Vísir (itself owned by 365 Media) reports that getting hold of Jón is a major coup for the company and that he will concentrate on high quality domestic content production on all 365 channels. He has already started work.
“We couldn’t be happier with this appointment and know that Jón Gnarr will prove a great catch,” 365 president Sævar Freyr Þráinsson said.
“Jón’s signature will be visible across all our media right away this autumn. I am convinced that our customers and all Icelanders will enjoy the changes to our schedules. We look forward to working with such a creative and fun man as Jón Gnarr.”
For his part, Jón said: “I am excited to be taking on this interesting and demanding role and to be taking on this challenge.”
“Icelandic content has always been my passion. Most of what I’ve done in that field I have done through 365 Media; Stöð 2, X-ið and Fréttablaðið. In my opinion 365 is one of the most exciting workplaces in Iceland today.”
At the same time as starting his new role, Jón will continue writing his weekly column for Fréttablaðið.
Since leaving the post of Mayor of Reykjavík, Jón has been living and studying in Houston, Texas.
