Jón Ásgeir Jóhannesson: I Did not Steal any Money

Jón Ásgeir Jóhannesson flatly denies that he or any of his partners stole any money from the bank. Jóhannesson points out that even though the winding-up committee of Glitnir has had 12 months to search for any such money, none has been found hidden away.

In an interview with Fréttabladid Jóhannesson reiterates that the winding-up committee should have brought its case before a court in Iceland and report the stolen money to the Police Chief on Skúlagata in Reykjavík, rather than bring innuendo to a court in New York. The only purpose of doing this, according to Jóhannesson, is to smear his name and the name of his colleagues in the media.
