It shows a strange phenomenon that appears to be swimming in the glacial river Jökulsá í Fljótsdal, which falls into Lagarfljót, where the monster supposedly resides, ruv.is reports.

The video immediately became one of the most read stories on ruv.is, was posted on icelandreview.com and spread to the international media, including the Japanese version of Yahoo!

Subsequently, hundreds of thousands of people visited ruv.is to view the video, most of whom come from Japan. Forums debate whether the clip is indeed evidence that the monster really exists.
