Japanese Designer Inspired by Iceland

Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake’s clothing line for spring and summer 2018 is inspired by the beauty of Icelandic landscapes, mbl.is reports. The line’s inspiration is drawn from green mountains, waterfalls, volcanic eruptions, and glaciers, which the designer’s team observed on a research trip to Iceland.

“I think this line is really cool. Iceland definitely comes through in both the colour palette and the structure of the materials. These are just textile masterpieces, which is what Issay Miyake is skilled at,” states Ágústa Hera Harðardóttir textile designer, who also uses Iceland and Icelandic nature as inspiration for her clothing line Föðurland (Fatherland).

As usual in Issey Miyake’s designs, the collection emphasizes high-tech clothes and futuristic materials which create volume and movement.
