Islanders Buy Toilet for ISK 2 Million

The executive and port committee of Vestmannaeyjar (the Westman Islands) approved in a meeting last week the purchase of a public toilet block for ISK 1.9 million (USD 14,600, EUR 13,600) to cater to the increase in foreign tourists who visit Heimaey, the only inhabited island of the archipelago, by cruise ship, ruv.is reports.

A total of 39 cruise ships are booked to arrive in the summer, up from 20 in 2014.

All in all, 89 cruise ships are expected to arrive in Iceland this summer.
