It appears that Islamic State (IS) has hacked a website called kristsdagur.is, mbl.is reports.
The website and the domain belong to the Association of Icelandic Missionaries (SIK). The page had not been used since last year, when it was used in relation with the Day of Christ (Kristsdagur)―a celebration which took place at Harpa Concert Hall, and before that in connection with the Day of Hope celebrations in 2013.
The hackers replaced the original background with a black one with the message “Hacked by Islamic State.” A video, showing executions committed by IS, was posted on the website. Members of SIK noticed the site had been hacked yesterday morning. Today, the website seems to have been taken down.
This isn’t the first time an Icelandic website is hacked in the name of IS. It also occurred in March, this year, when njala.is, the website of the Saga Center in Hvolsvöllur, South Iceland, was hacked. A website was also established in the terrorist organization’s name in September of last year, under two Icelandic domains, which were subsequently closed. The country domain for Iceland is ‘.is’.
