Irish police officers are due to travel to Iceland next week as part of their ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Jón Þrastar Jónsson, who went missing in Dublin in February 2019.
According to a statement from the Icelandic police, a court order has been granted allowing statements to be taken from around 35 individuals who may have information relevant to the case.
“It should be noted that the planned interviews are under the supervision and control of the Icelandic police,” the statement read.
Officers in the Reykjavík Metropolitan Police will support the visiting investigators throughout the process.
Over Five Years Missing
Jón Þrastar Jónsson, an Icelandic national, was last seen in the Irish capital over five years ago. His disappearance prompted extensive searches throughout the city, though no conclusive evidence has emerged to date.
As part of renewed efforts to find out what happened to Jón, the police are again appealing to the public for any information that could help with the investigation.
