Iran Beats Iceland in Friendly Football Match

The Icelandic national team in men’s football lost 0-1 against Iran in a friendly game at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran yesterday. Iran was the stronger team throughout the entire game and scored the goal after a quick offense early in the second half.

Iceland had its best chance to score in the first half when Ólafur Ingi Skúlason missed the goal, one-on-one against Iran’s goalkeeper. Heidar Helguson tried to even the score for Iceland half-way into the second half, but his shot was deflected, mbl.is reports.

Iran had its strongest players on the field, while the Icelandic team lacked a number of key players. Ten players will be added to the group for Iceland’s next friendly match in Luxembourg on Saturday.
