Páll Stefánsson, the photographer and deputy editor of Iceland Review’s print edition—and a regular columnist for the magazine’s online edition’s Daily Life section—will publish his book Africa – The Future of Football on June 11, the same day that the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa begins.

“There are 11 players on a football team, the World Cup starts on the 11th of June and on that same day, my book will come out,” Stefánsson commented.
Stefánsson has been working on this project for more than two years, during which he has traveled to 25 African countries along with his publisher Kristján B. Jónasson of Crymogea publishing and the book’s producer, Halldór Lárusson, shooting pictures of children, men and women playing football in all sorts of sceneries.
The preface is written by premiere-league football player Didier Drogba from the Ivory Coast, who plays with Chelsea.
Stefánsson presents his project in “The Beautiful Game,” the video of the month on Icelandic literature news website Fabulous Iceland.
