According to Iceland State Radio, RÚV, officers of the National Police Commissioner’s Economic Crimes unit have been questioning several individuals over the past few weeks in connection with illegal price-fixing agreements between Iceland’s three main oil importers and distributers, Olíufélagið, Skeljungur and Olís.
Among those called in for questioning were the former CEO’s of the companies, Kristinn Björnsson, Geir Magnússon and Einar Benediktsson.
Iceland’s competition authority found last year that the three oil companies had conspired to fix prices in several markets and fined to the extent of ISK 1.5 billion. The oil companies have appealed the decision to the courts.
