The plane was in training yesterday with five people on board, reports.

The plane is severely damaged and one passenger was injured, sustaining a broken ankle.

An investigation into the crash was launched immediately. The Icelandic police have interviewed the staff on board. However, Ragnar Guðmundsson of the traffic accidents investigation committee told that they had not yet been able to retrieve the flight recorders to assist in determining the cause of the crash.

Representatives from the insurance company and the Russian aviation authorities are expected to arrive in Iceland later today.
