Intruder Tries on Homeowner’s Clothes

The diary of the greater Reykjavík police today recounts an unusual incident that took place last night, RÚV reports. At 8:30 pm, police were called because of a fight in an apartment on Hraunbær. As it turned out, the homeowner had woken up and noticed an intruder in the home.

The uninvited guest had made himself at home; he was already dressed in the homeowner’s clothes and was laying out things to bring along, a laptop among them. The homeowner claims the man put a knife to his throat. The intruder was arrested and spent the night in jail.

This was not the only unusual break-in last night. At a similar hour, police were called to Suðurlandsvegur road. An elderly lady discovered a man in the house, but he escaped before police arrived. The man is suspected of a break-in, threats and abnormal behavior, but police did not elaborate on in what way the behavior was abnormal.

The night was a busy one for police, although not downtown, which is the place most often visited by police. There were two cases of domestic violence, one in Kópavogur, the other on in Breiðholt.

A drunk man was arrested on Hraunbær, where he was kicking the window panes of a drug store. He was taken into custody.
