A driver was caught speeding at 155 kilometers per hour (the speed limit is 80 km/hour) at Ártúnsbrekka in Reykjavík between 9 and 10 pm yesterday evening.

The person did not respond to police instructions to stop and instead drove into the Kvíslarhverfi neighborhood. Police officers followed the driver who after a short distance crashed into the curbstone, ruv.is reports.
They arrested the driver, who proved to be both drunk and under the influence of drugs; police confiscated his driving license. The car sustained significant damages and had to be towed.
